The 4 Best Senior-Friendly Watches

As you get older, your day-to-day life gets increasingly difficult. Elderly people often develop problems with their eyesight, others might need constant medical supervision, while some are simply incredibly bored.

No matter what problems you face as you get older, using the right gadgets for your situation might change your life. Fortunately, watchmakers thought about the hardships of growing old and brought senior friendly watches to the market.

This article will give you the 4 best senior-friendly watches, according to facts and user experience. I divided the article in 4 different categories related to most common senior needs.

Big Display

Casio F-91W

The Casio F-91w is a very affordable watch that will be perfect for most elderly people. The digital screen is big enough to read, even if your vision is on the weaker side.

Additionally, it isn’t cluttered with tons of information that you don’t care about. You simply get the time in a big, easy to read font, with the date in a bit smaller font.

The watch has a nice ‘’old-school’’ feel to it, compared to most digital watches. It comes with a beautiful matte black resin band that will go with most clothing styles. The face is pretty small, so it will fit people with smaller wrists, but it also looks good on people with big wrists.

Some people might complain that the material feels a bit cheap, and some say that their band broke within a few years of use. I haven't had any problem with my band, but it does come with a one year warranty if yours do break.

The price is the best-selling point of this piece of gear. The Casio F-91w can be had for 10-15$ depending on which store you are shopping in. This is a really good price for a watch that can easily last 10 years or more if you take care of it. It is waterproof, but only for 30 meters. It isn't recommended to shower with it.

The F-91w has a backlight feature, but it is on the weaker side, compared to other, more expensive Casio watches. The last feature of this very simple watch is a daily alarm.

MobileHelp Smart

Every year, technological breakthroughs help better our lives significantly. The senior community benefits a lot from these new gadgets and medicines that save lives.

MobileHelp is one of those technological discovery that can have a very positive influence on your longevity. I included it in this list because it does display the time, so it is considered a watch, but it does much more than you’d expect from a watch.

This smart watch was built to aid elderly people feel safe, by providing help at the touch of a button. The system gives you access to emergency monitoring throughout the United States.

It uses a combination of the 4G cellular network and GPS tracking to give access to your precise coordinates so medical staff can come to your help in a matter of minutes. Additionally, the watch includes a two-way communicator which lets you speak directly to emergency operators so they can assist you in a better way.

I love the MobileHelp Smart because it gives access to assistance in emergency situations, without the stigma of traditional senior citizen tracking device. This watch is beautiful, and people will think you are wearing a normal smart watch. Like every smart watch, it includes plenty of features such as Samsung Health, which monitors physical activity, giving you important data including your heart rate.

This watch is incredibly useful, filled with important features, and extremely resistant to scratches, water or dust. As you know, everything good comes with a price to pay. For the MobileHelp smart, the price to pay is 349.95$ upfront, plus 24.95$ per month for the emergency monitoring. This isn’t a gadget that is affordable for everyone, but if you can afford it, I strongly recommend acquiring it.

Convenience / Entertainement

Ticwatch E2

The Ticwatch E2 is probably my favorite watch out of all those presented today. The reason for this is because this watch is very polyvalent and is the answer to a lot of problems that elderly people encounter.

You need to keep in mind that the Ticwatch E2 is a bona fide smart watch, so you need to be at least a bit technology inclined to use this watch as intended.

While displaying time, the watch displays very large and clear numbers that simply can’t be misread. Additionally, you can change the color to your will, which makes it even easier to read. To realize it’s full potential, the Ticwatch E2 will need to be paired to an Android phone. It is also compatible with the iPhone, but some features are not available, or won’t work as well.

Once paired to your Android device, this wearable will be able to do multiple things to make your life easier. For example, you could use it to request a Taxi, to track your fitness goals or to record audio. Those are only a few of the numerous apps you can get on this device, as you can get thousands of them from the Google Play store.

One of the most useful features is the google assistant. Simply say ‘’Ok Google’’, and the assistant will listen. You can ask it any question you would normally type on google, and you will get an answer no matter where you are. If you are interested, you can get the Ticwatch E2 from the Mobvoi.com website for 159.99$ tax included.

Style

Timex Easy Reader

source: timex.com

The Timex Easy Reader is one of the rare watches that offers easy to read dial with elegant styling. Everything is in place to help you see the time easily; large, bold black digits on a white background and a very performant ‘’Indiglo light-up’’ system to illuminate the dial when it’s dark. The main selling point of this watch is certainly it’s beauty.

It has a very minimalist styling to it, which will compliment anything you wear it with. The Easy Reader comes with a nice leather strap, available in black or brown, but it is possible to order different straps directly from the Timex website, such as silicone or fabric straps.

With a 35mm case, this watch is very small, which is a good thing for most people, unless you have a thick wrist. The mineral glass will be resistant to most scratches, and the 30m waterproofing will allow you to keep it on for showering.

The Quartz Analog movement is very reliable and will lose at most a couple of seconds each month. I really think this is a great classic watch, and it is totally worth its price.

I hope you found something on my list that will please you and help better your life. If there are other types of watches you would like us to cover, please leave a comment so we can address this segment in our next article. If you have any questions or commentary on our list, feel free to let me know.
